Overview

The FDM 3D printer toolhead is the heart of the material extrusion process. It is responsible for extruding, heating, depositing, and cooling the filament.

This is a list of publically available toolhead designs which can built using a combination of 3D printed parts as well as an extruder, hotend, fans, LEDs, and PCBs. There are so many different options available for a huge variety of printers. The list will focus solely on community made toolheads for Voron and Printers for Ants.

  • The full size: A4T is the community pick for the Voron 2.4 and Trident. Its light, has strong cooling with dual 4010 blowers, accepts basically any combination of extruder, hotend, and probe, and is easy to adapt for multicolor.

  • The micro-king: AntHead is the go-to option for Printers for Ants. With its streamlined design, solid 4010 cooling, support for filament cutters, and support for a wide variety of extruders, probes, and hotends its no wonder its a popular choice. It even features a full build manual!
